Hi everyone
Opening Times
I am writing to let you know that the committee has agreed to adjust our opening hours at the club as follows:
- Monday 12-11pm
- Tuesday 12-11pm
- Wednesday 12-11pm
- Thursday 12-11pm
- Friday 11am – 1130pm
- Saturday 11am – 1130pm
- Sunday 11am – 11pm
Over the last eight months or so, the morning footfall and income has dropped away consistently and the club maybe averages one or two people in during the first hour – sometimes no one. With wages being one of our key lines of expenditure and constantly rising, particularly over the last two years, it was hard to justify the expenditure and associated costs, such as heating.
We were also conscious of the double whammy which is going to hit employers in April, with the hike in both Living Wage and NI contributions.
The proposed changes and other agreed amendments to our working practices will reduce the wages burden by up to £4000 per annum and hopefully go someway to offset the April increase. None of the team has been disadvantaged as we waited until George had left us to implement the change. Indeed, we are taking on a new employee called Beth who will be doing a couple of shifts weekly starting in February.
2025 Subscriptions
It is really pleasing the nearly 400 have paid their 2025 subscriptions – thank you.
Whilst today (28th January) is normally the expiry date for renewals, Chris and I are away from the office until 10th February; so in reality the deadline can be extended and the Box for renewals will remain in place until that date.
Hopefully there will be a few more Membership Cards to update on our return!
City Trip – May
We’ve had one or two enquiries concerning the first coach trip of the year. This is in hand and hopefully full details will be released around mid-February. Having canvassed some regulars recently, Cambridge seems to be a possible destination.
