What’s On – October 2026

Hi everyone,

We’ve got a pretty busy October on the entertainment front, and I thought I’d give you a quick update of what’s on:
 Tuesday, 6th October, 8pm
Kenny Wilson is back for his monthly show with special guests Bob Gilmour Evans and Mark Theobald. Plenty of entertaining music and chat from Kenny. If Kenny asks for requests, be sure to mention “Wichita Lineman”!!
Saturday, 10th October, 8.45pm
“The Detours”, a four-piece band playing classic 60’s and 70’s music, in particular Motown, Soul and Northern Soul.
Tuesday, 13th October, 8pm
The popular monthly Quiz Night with regular entrants, the “J20s”, setting the questions this time.
Friday, 16th October, 8pm
140th Celebrations continue with a 3D games night. Dominoes, Draughts and Darts. More information on the format of the evening is to follow.
Tuesday, 20th October, 8pm
Vinyl Night with Derek the Djook. This month’s theme is “Girl’s Names”.
Be sure to have a good night. With complimentary cheese and biscuits, pork pie and accompaniments on the bar.
Saturday, 24th October, 8.45pm
“The Bizz” are on stage, a well-established Midlands band playing Britpop and rock and roll covers – a poster is to follow shortly.
Saturday, 31st October, 7pm
Halloween Night Disco. Join us for a Halloween party evening with Denzil as your DJ host.
Three prizes for the best fancy dress costumes as chosen by Club President Nick Woods, and also a free hot buffet available around 7:30pm. No ticket required, and guests are welcome.
Plus:
We also have the regular Thursday lunchtime jazz sessions and, of course, on Friday afternoons, the Al Sansome Blues Band on stage.
Please see the various posters for more details.
New Gazebo
Finally, I am pleased to advise that we now have a gazebo erected in the small yard at the back of the club for the smokers to use on rainy days, rather than the front door area. Courtesy of Darrell Moore – thanks, Denzil and also Loz, for securing the gazebo to the slabbing.
I would ask that the smokers on the first floor refrain from flicking their used butts in case they land on the gazebo and use the bucket provided instead.
Best wishes
Sharon
