    Dear Members

    Quite a lot to update:

    Treasurer’s AGM Report

Please find attached. The only points to add were regarding the 2022 accounts where no relevant questions were asked and that John Robertson was subsequently voted to stay on as auditor.

    Pool and Snooker Teams

As reported by the Club President at the recent AGM the pool and snooker teams both won their respective leagues during the winter competitions – a brilliant effort by all concerned.

The pool team captained by Carl Thompson won their league with a match to spare and now will be playing in a higher division. Well done to Carl, Justin (Juggy) Williams, Darrell (Denzil) Moore, Jamie Johnson, Steve Topps and not least Graham Taylor.

The Wednesday night snooker team led by Graham Taylor and consisting of Steve Topps, Steve Robinson, Elliott Weston and Steve O’Connor won their division, which consisted of some high quality teams. Well done to all.

The Monday snooker team which includes Graham, Steve Topps, Andrew Poole, Adam Hassan and Yasin Majid are in the league cup final in the next week or so, beating the league winners in a tight semi final last week!! Good luck to all in the final tie.

On an individual basis, two of the Monday night team are in finals. Steve Topps in the Over 55’s and Andrew Poole in the Frank Heanegan Cup – the very best of luck to both players.

    Curry Night – 15th May 2024, 7pm.

The club is holding a curry night in the main room on the above date, provided by our good friends, Chilli Guys. They did the last curry night and also supplied the vegetarian curry for our evening meal following our coach trips. This will comprise of a two course meal:

    · Starters: Vegetable Samosas, Sheekh Kebab, Salad and Raita

    · Mains: Chicken Curry or/and Chickpea and Potato Curry (V)

    · With: Rice and Naan

    · Drink included – Pint of Beer, Glass of wine or soft drink.

    · Cost £15 per member and £15 for the first guest.

    · Subsequent guests £20 per head.

We have sufficient room for 48 covers and once numbers are known, tables will be booked and allocated by name.

Please advise Rebecca and her team at the bar if you wish to attend. In view of the fact that the event is less than a month away, it would be helpful if full payment could be made on booking tables – thank you.

    Race Meetings

As already advised we have two season tickets for the County Cricket which also allow admittance to the following race meetings at the Oadby Racecourse.

    · Saturday 11th May (Evening) – FLAT

    · Tuesday 4th June LOROS Raceday – FLAT

    Race Day – Saturday 27th April 2024

Whilst on the subject of racing, don’t forget the club has free tickets to the meeting on 27th April, sponsored by our beer suppliers, Molson Coors. Nearly 20 tickets have been snapped up, but there are still 10 behind the bar if any member is interested. Please see Rebecca or any of her team if you wish to go – see attached flyer for full details.

    LCCC – Grace Road

For those wishing to make use of the two club season tickets which allow admittance to any home match (all formats), again please see the bar team who have the booking form. I would ask that the tickets be returned to the club after the day’s play as they may be booked out in the event of a four-day game (unless it’s the fourth day!)

    Entertainment / Gig Nights

Following several comments from members, the committee has decided to make the following changes on the above event nights:

    1) Each member attending to be limited to two guests per evening. For the last few months, the gigs have been very well attended and some concern was raised that the time is approaching when we will not have sufficient room for our members. (exceptions to this being previously agreed events such as wedding receptions, birthday parties, etc., should they occur on the same evening)

    2) No children under the age of 16 permitted in the main room after 8pm on gig nights (unless at a previously agreed event, such as a family party). Several members have expressed concern over the last year or so at seeing children at the bar and running around the club when it is busy. The committee, after a full discussion, has listened to these concerns and agreed to implement a 8pm watershed.

    3) No dogs to be brought into the club on gig nights. The committee do not believe it is the right environment for a dog and also possibly a H & S issue in a busy venue.

    Many thanks

    Sharon
