    Morning everyone

    Some Housekeeping updates:

    2025 Memberships

I am pleased to confirm that we now have 497 members paid up for the current year – an excellent response – many thanks.

However, the final deadline for renewals is the 31st March 2025. Starting in the first week in April, we will be deleting the records of any 2024 members who have not renewed. Email addresses will also be deleted.

Any former member who wants to rejoin the club at a later date will have to go through the normal application process.

    Gents Ground Floor Toilet

Regrettably for the second time in less than nine months, we have had to dismantle and clean and unclog all the pipework and downpipes in the Gents toilets. They have been tending to overflow for some weeks, which came to a head at the weekend.

The clogging (see attached picture) has been caused by toilet paper being thrown into the urinals, which when wet breaks down and lodges in the pipework. This is an unnecessary cost for the club. I would, therefore, ask the members that use the Gents toilets to refrain from throwing toilet paper into the urinals. If need be please use the main toilet in the cubicle – thank you.

We have also connected the wash sink to the mains hot water and disposed of the hot water heater to the right of the sink. This was a requirement of the recent 5-Year Electricity review.

    Compliance Issues

I am also pleased to confirm that considerable work has been undertaken in the club over the last six-nine months in meeting our legal compliance requirements:

    • Fire Alarm System– This has been completely upgraded with 36 new Emergency Lights installed, all sounders, detectors, legends (signage), wiring and documentation fully signed off to the required British Standard. (Dated October 2024)
    • Fire Risk assessment– A full and very comprehensive annual Fire Risk Assessment has been completed and copies are being sent off to our Insurers and the Telephone Mast company in accordance with their requirements. Many thanks to Carl Thompson for his work in completing this quite lengthy, but important undertaking. (Dated March 2025)
    • 5-Year Electrical Check– This was completed in February and did reveal several areas requiring remedial work. Some urgent, some not. Work is being completed on the areas concerned in order of priority and hopefully will be fully signed off by the end of April. Again, we are required to send a copy of the sign off to our Insurers. They have already had the original report.

    Many thanks

    Sharon Jones

    Secretary
