John Marley and Rakesh Patel

Dear Members

It is with great sadness that I must advise you that two club members, John Marley and Rakesh Patel passed away recently, although I have no other details to report.

John, who died I believe about four weeks ago, had been until the last few years, a regular supporter of the club and was well known to the older members and long-term staff. John had one of the lowest Club numbers at No. 81.

Rakesh, who passed away earlier in the  week, joined the club in May 2022, was aged just 52 and was a regular in the club up to the marked deterioration in his health which curtailed his visits. Nevertheless he did call in from time to time and he did visit the club only a couple of weeks ago. He was well known for wearing about three different football shirts at the same time, often Arsenal, Leicester City and one other!

I will advise further updates when to hand, although I understand that the wake for Rakesh will very likely be held in the club.

The flag is flying at half-mast.
