    Hi everyone

    Breaking News

    The club is very pleased to announce the launch of our new website;

    http://www.knightonandclarendonparkconservative.club

We have contracted the services of club member, Mr Adrian Welsh, to design and administer the site for us on an ongoing basis and I think he has done an excellent job with the initial design. The committee is really pleased with the new website.

It will take some weeks to “sign up” all 500 members to access the club members section and Adrian will start contacting members, on a gradual basis, early next week.

So please watch out for an email from admin@knightonandclarendonparkconservative.club” – this will be from Adrian with instructions how to create your own individual password to access the members area of the site.

Please find attached a poster containing the relevant details.

    Change of Act – 15th June 2024

Just a quick reminder that “Chris Robin” has had to cancel for next Saturday night, but we are pleased that “Laura Elson”, vocalist is appearing instead. Should be a good night.

    Club Picture Board

The committee has been approached by members requesting a club picture board where snaps of various members on outings etc can be placed. This is a good idea and the pin board located near the toilets seems a reasonable place with plenty of traffic!

Once the board is full and pictures need to be removed, they can either be returned to the members concerned or placed in a Club Photograph album for posterity.

    Electrical Work

Just a quick apology for any disruption caused by the ongoing electrical work being carried out in the club.

Last November, the club arranged for a complete Electrical and Fire Risk Assessment to be carried out by an authorised company. They found many issues which were now non-compliant in terms of current legislation. The list stretched to two sheets of A4 paper!

Work started in February and we are now about three-quarters of the way through the list. The more important areas, such as the 36 emergency lights (31 were not working), have been completed and the disruption should now lessen. Unfortunately, the remedial work did unearth some other issues which needed addressing, adding to the overall cost.

This has taken some of our savings, £6000 to date, but it is essential the work is undertaken. Expected completion and sign off is hopefully August.

    Cromer Trip – 7th August 2024

This trip is fast approaching. As you know we are taking two coaches with 110 members booked to travel. Over 60 have already paid, but I would be grateful if all those who haven’t could pop into the club and complete their booking as soon as possible – thank you.

Save The Date – Thursday 28th November 2024

Just to let you know the club will be arranging a trip to Worcester Christmas Market on the above date. Likely to be an 84 seater coach.

I know we went to Worcester last year, but the 2024 trip originally envisaged for Stratford-Upon-Avon fell through as they cancelled their normal Thursday – Sunday event for two consecutive weekends. Worcester proved a success last year and the general consensus seemed to be “Let’s go again”

Full details will be published after the Cromer trip, so no need to book with Rebecca’s team at the moment as we are not taking names yet.

The trip will be along usual lines: Coffee / Tea and Biscuits prior to the trip and hot buffet on return. As mentioned, watch out for details in a couple of months.

    Next Club Event

Monthly Quiz Tuesday 11th June, 8pm start – Hope to see you there.

    100 Club

At the suggestion of Matt Watters, the club is considering starting a 100 Club (or any reasonable number depending on take-up) and is looking for members who would be genuinely interested in being part of this club.

    How it works:

    1) Members pay say £5 per month (or £60 annually). standing order towards the fund.

    2) Members taking part are allocated a number between 1 and 100 by the organizer. That is their number every month.

    3) On a monthly basis three prizes are drawn which normally total 45%-50% of the monthly pot raised. Drawn, say, the last Friday evening of the month, which is often a busy time.

    4) The remaining amount goes towards bolstering the club’s finances.

    5) For instance, if £500 was raised on a monthly basis, first Prize could be £150, second prize £60 and third prize £40, leaving £250 for the club, which could be used to defray costs for club outings, social events etc.

    6) Winnings are paid directly into a member’s bank account or cash. We would open another bank account especially for this purpose.

    7) No licence from the Gambling Commission is required to run a 100 Club for a small, private society.

    8) Matt Watters has agreed to run and administer the Club, if sufficient numbers are interested.

Essentially, a bit of fun, coupled with the fact that this type of scheme would be very helpful for the club. I certainly hope we can give it a go. If any member would be interested in participating, please let me know by email.

    Many thanks

    Sharon
