    Dear Members,
    1) 140 Club

The last Friday of this month, 31st July, is the 12th and final draw for this year’s 140 Club.
I am really pleased to confirm that the club has continued to be a great success, bringing welcome funds into the club, and I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to all those members who have participated over the last year.
The surplus funds generated have helped towards the payment of the substantial roof repairs over the last 12 – 18 months, which, unless undertaken, would have involved extensive damage being caused to the first-floor snooker room.
I can provide financial details for 2025/26, which are as follows:
    1) Members’ contributions over the year: £8240
    2) Prize Money paid out: £3840
    3) Bank Charges: £170
    4) Surplus used towards payment for the roof and other urgent building repairs: £4230
In view of the success seen, we are looking to extend the club for a further 12-month period. Hopefully, existing members will continue, and I can advise that we do have eight numbers now available following some members cancelling their participation over the year.
    Procedure
    1) All existing 140 Club members will be automatically transferred to the new club UNLESS we receive notification that an individual existing member wants to leave. IF YOU ARE HAPPY TO CONTINUE – NO ACTION REQUIRED.

    2) We are inviting other members who would like to join the 140 Club; please just let me know by email or advise the bar team as soon as possible.
    3) Payment can be £5 per month, or £60 for the full year, payable during early August 2026. (Full payment cuts down on the bank charges, but if monthly payment suits you, that’s fine.)
    4) All 140 Club members will be given a new ball number, which Matt Watters will arrange on his electronic roulette wheel app, one evening in early August in the main bar – date to be advised.
    5) Bank details:
    • Knighton & Clarendon Park Con Club 2A/C
    • Sorting Code: 601339
    • Account Number: 50701908
    6) Would members who want to exit the existing club and those who want to join the new club please let me know by August 7th? Thank you.
In closing, the club draw nights are good fun, and the surplus funds are very helpful in meeting various unexpected repair jobs which occur from time to time.
    2) Coach Trip – Cromer, Wednesday 5th August 2026
This day trip is fast approaching, and I am just sending out a reminder that we leave the club at 07.30am sharp that morning. The club will be open from 06.30am for coffee, tea, biscuits, etc.
Whilst writing, 24 members still have to pay for the trip, and I should be grateful if they would do so in the next couple of weeks – thank you.
    3) Coach Trip – Worcester Christmas Market Thursday 3rd December 2026
An 83-seater coach has been booked for this event and will be leaving the club at 09.00am that morning. The club will be open 90 minutes earlier for coffee, tea and biscuits.
We have been to Worcester in previous years, and, without doubt, it is one of the better Christmas markets. Price: £15 for members, £20 for guests – price includes a hot buffet on return.
If interested in going, please advise me by email or give your names to any of the bar team who will be keeping a record of names behind the bar. Payment at the time of booking would be appreciated.
    4) 140 Club Celebrations – Whist Drive, Saturday 18th July 2026, 8.00pm.
Jude and Karen have asked me to post the following to give you some idea of the format of the evening:
“Do you enjoy playing cards? Do you fancy some light relief away from the World Cup? If the answer is ‘yes’, then we have just the thing for you!”

We are looking for teams of two people who will play against each other in six rounds of Whist. After each round the winning team will stay where they are seated and prepare themselves to face another team!

So if you are a card shark or have never played before and just want to have some fun in a relaxed atmosphere, then head down to The Club on Saturday, 18th July.
We look forward to seeing you there.

    Best Wishes
    Jude and Karen”

    5) Denzil’s Disco – Saturday 25th July and Saturday 29th August, 8.00pm
Following the success of Denzil’s previous discos and as we do not have many gigs during the summer months, Denzil has kindly offered to provide some disco entertainment on the Saturday nights indicated.
Please make a note in your diary and watch out for further details.
    Many thanks
    Sharon Jones
    Secretary
