Club Update

Good morning everyone

Three updates:

1) Committee Election Result – 2026

We had three candidates for the two committee places available and following the voting which took place over the last two nights, the result is as follows:

• Matthew Watters 53 votes
• Andrew Smith 52 votes
• Karen Mallard 30 votes
• Spoilt Votes – none

This means that Matt and Andy are elected and Karen stands down after 11 years on the committee.

Matt is re-elected and is our longest serving committee member with 20 years continuous service. I would like to offer my congratulations to Andy on his election and look forward to working with him.

I am sorry to see Karen leave the team; she has worked hard since 2015 and contributed to the success the club has enjoyed over the 11 years. With Jude she was instrumental in running the annual Gin nights which we used to hold in the years before COVID and more recently, again with Jude, is responsible for organising the monthly 140th Year anniversary celebrations.

I would like to place on record my heartfelt thanks to Karen for all her support and efforts over the last 11 years.

 

2) 140th Anniversary Celebrations

Talking of the 140th celebrations, the next monthly event is the “Skittles and Supper Night” on Friday 24th April, 8pm start. The complimentary supper will consist of:

• Faggots
• Mashed potato
• Onions
• Mushy Peas
• Gravy
• Bread

2) Race Day Saturday 25th April 2026

Just really a “Save the Date” message.

Again, I’ve attached a poster, but we are still awaiting exact details from Molson Coors regarding the tickets and any add-ons.

The bar team is collating names now if you wish to take advantage of the free entrance ticket. More details when available.
